The research team of Professor Tao Zhang from Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) recently discovered a new lightweight, high-temperature-resistant and microwave-absorbing material with a density of only 15 mg per cubic centimeter, which is the lightest known ceramic material.
The research was published in the journal Carbon Materials.
According to Professor Zhang Tao from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), the first author of the results, this new absorbing material can greatly reduce the burden on aircraft and ships.
The wave agent is carbonyl iron powder, which accounts for more than 50% of the coating weight.
If the new material discovered this time is used for stealth and shielding, its proportion of the coating weight will be reduced to less than 10%.
"
This material is Hexagonal BCN ternary compound ceramics synthesized by precursor molecular design, unique micro-nano structure and composition designability make it have excellent absorbing performance in different electromagnetic wave bands (S, K, etc.
).
Its absorbing frequency band has adjustable characteristics.
In addition, this ternary compound material with a micro-nanoporous structure has super-hydrophobic properties and can float on the water surface without any shape design.
This new type of ternary material can perfectly meet the "thin, light, wide and strong" requirements of modern absorbing materials, and its discovery has important guiding value for the development and application of a new generation of high temperature resistant, all-weather, ultra-light absorbing materials .
In the future, it will be used as coating materials for high Mach number stealth aircraft, high-voltage transmission stations and high-power servers, etc.
, to prevent electromagnetic pollution and signal interference.
