Recently, Vietnam officially launched the operation of the largest solar power plant in Southeast Asia, the Dau Tieng solar power plant, which can generate 688 million kilowatt-hours
of electricity per year.
According to reports, the Dau Tieng solar power plant is a joint venture with Thai industrial group B.
Grimm Power Public Company, located in Tay Ninh province, about 100 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, covering an area of 540 hectares, with an investment of more than 391 million US dollars and an installed capacity of 420 megawatts
.
The plant, which was officially inaugurated on Saturday and is built on the edge of the Dau Tieng reservoir, Vietnam's largest artificial lake, is expected to generate 10 percent of the country's solar energy to power 320,000 homes
.
The plant will also reduce emissions into the atmosphere by 595,000 tons of carbon dioxide
per year, the company said.
It is reported that Vietnam's electricity supply mainly relies on hydropower and thermal power generation
