Recently, Qatar Industries said that its Qatar Vinyl (QVC) new 350,000 tons/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant in Mesa Eid is scheduled to be completed by mid-2025, and Qatar Industries expects to directly hold a 44.
8% stake
in QVC in May 2026.
Qatar Industries said the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the plant was awarded in April 2022 and is expected to be completed
by mid-2025.
The plant will be Qatar's first PVC plant and will be integrated with QVC's existing vinyl chloride monomer, dichloroethane and caustic soda production facilities in Messaid, and its PVC production is expected to meet growing demand
from the construction industry in the Middle East.
Under the "Agreement in Principle" recently signed between the two companies, the project finance for the new PVC plant will be shared
between joint venture partners Mesa Eed Petrochemical Holdings and Qatar Industries.
