A few days ago, the Wuxi Municipal Government of Jiangsu Province held a press conference to announce that the National Market Supervision Technology Innovation Center (Special Food), jointly declared by Wuxi Food Safety Inspection and Testing Center and Jiangnan University, was officially approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Special foods refer to foods specially processed according to special formulas to meet the needs of infants, patients and other specific groups, including health foods, infant formulas, formulas for special medical purposes, and other special dietary foods
At present, some domestic universities, research institutes and key enterprises have achieved some achievements in the research and development of special food through industry-university-research cooperation, but there are still some key core technologies that need to be broken through
Since the State Administration for Market Regulation first started the establishment of the technology innovation center, Wuxi quickly organized the Municipal Food Safety Inspection and Testing Center and Jiangnan University to jointly apply for the construction of the first special food technology innovation center in China
At present, the center has been included in the Wuxi City "Thousands of Cadres and Hundreds of Critical Actions" project
Zhou Jianhui, director of Wuxi Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, introduced that in the future, the center will give full play to the advantages of Jiangnan University's advantageous disciplines in food science, the platform carrier of Wuxi Food Safety Inspection and Testing Center, and the incubation resources of Xinwu District Life Science and Technology Park.
The center will also build a pilot plant of nearly 4,000 square meters, and plans to build three pilot production lines for powder, liquid and extrusion, covering innovative R&D and pilot production of a variety of special food raw materials, production processes and product formulations.
