The European Bank for International Business (EIB) recently announced that it has approved a €932 million ($1.
14 billion) financing loan for the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which is expected to come on stream
in June.
According to reports, the 1,850-kilometer-long production line is crucial
for the so-called Southern Gas Corridor.
With a total investment of $45 billion, the project connects Azerbaijan's gas fields to Europe
through a number of countries and a large amount of infrastructure.
The Southern Gas Corridor project is a major regional project, of which the TANAP gas pipeline is an important part of which it is important
to ensure long-term energy security in Georgia, Turkey and Europe.
The Southern Gas Corridor project, which transports gas from the Shah Denis-2 block in Azerbaijan, to Turkey and Europe, is scheduled to start exporting gas to Turkey in June 2018 and to Europe in 2020
