Food Partners Network According to the official website of the European Union, the European Union (EU) Regulation 344/2011 lists rosemary extract as an antioxidant in organic food, provided that the ingredient is extracted from organically cultivated rosemary and the solvent is extracted as ethanol.
additives and processing aids in organic foods are listed in Annex VIII of European Union (EU) Regulation 889/2008.
, however, the annex does not address rosemary extracts that can be used as antioxidants in food preservation, and it was not until 2010 that the European Union approved rosemary extracts as antioxidants.
European Union (EU) Regulation 344/2011 updated the 2008 EU regulations and eventually added rosemary extracts to the list of organic food additives.
