Recently, the European Commission published a draft
rule to speed up the approval process for renewable energy projects in the EU.
This is a one-year, time-limited legislation aimed at accelerating the development of renewable energy and alleviating the energy crisis
after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Under the draft rule, the construction of power generation facilities for renewable energy purposes would only be subject to a brief review
.
Certain renewable energy projects with a low environmental impact are included in the expedited business approval
.
For example, solar power installations on buildings, as well as accompanying energy storage and grid connection equipment, are exempt from some environmental reviews
, in addition to requiring approval within one month.
In addition, for renovation and expansion projects of renewable energy generation facilities, such as replacing aging wind turbines and renewing large wind turbines, the approval process will be simplified, requiring only environmental reviews
of the changed and expanded parts.
The review period is up to 6 months
.
For connection works to the grid of small heat pumps, the approval process will be simplified and the review period will not exceed 3 months
.
