The City of Cleveland reportedly became the first municipality in Ohio to commit to 100% clean and renewable electricity

At Mayor Frank Jackson's 10th Annual Sustainable Cleveland Summit, the city's Office of Sustainability released its 2018 Climate Action Plan, which aims to get 100 percent of its electricity demand from clean energy
by 2050.
At the summit, Mayor Jackson presented the city's new Climate Action Plan while engaging community leaders to discuss the city's sustainable future
.
In working to shift from fossil fuels to an equitable energy system powered by renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, city leaders acknowledged the importance
of continuing to work with residents, businesses and community groups to identify what Mayor Jackson called a "green city.
"
Cleveland Prepare 100 campaign coordinator said, "This 100 percent commitment is an important springboard
to building an energy economy in Cleveland.
" We look forward to continuing to work with the City to ensure that the transition to 100% renewable energy benefits everyone in our city
.
" ”
He added, "Cleveland should lead the nation and the Midwest to accelerate a just and equitable transition
.
