A statement from Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne confirmed that the 4,700-kilometre Coral Sea Cable had landed in Sydney on August 28, connecting Australia with Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands
.
With the completion of the Australian landing, cable laying vessel Ile de Brehat will soon return to the Solomon Islands to lay a separate 730km undersea cable connecting Honiara to the central cities
of Auki, Noro and Taro Island.
According to the plan, the Coral Sea submarine cable system is expected to be completed
in December this year.
