The African Development Bank has reportedly signed a cooperation agreement with the Green Climate Fund and the Africa50 Investment Fund to develop 10GW of solar projects
through the Sahel.
It is understood that the cooperation agreement was signed during the annual meeting of the African Development Bank in Busan
, South Korea.
The three agencies are committed to sharing ideas and resources
for Sahel solar power in West Africa and the MENA region, from Senegal to Sudan.
The African Development Bank's Desert Power Initiative aims to provide solar power to 250 million people, including 90 million
installed off-grid.
"The Desert Power Initiative will change the power shortage in countries in the Sahel region by accelerating its access to electricity through solar energy
," said the president of the African Development Bank.
To achieve this ambition, greater collaboration is needed, so partnering with the Green Climate Fund and Africa 50 is a great milestone that will help us achieve scale
