    Thailand's CP Bee (CPF) participates in the formulation of "antibiotic-free" aquaculture standards

    Thai farmer company CP Foods (CPF) has partnered with SeaBOS (Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship), a seafood sustainability organization, to develop a code of conduct for the aquaculture industry to reduce the use of antibiotics
    The new guidelines will be revised in Octob.
     
    SeaBOS member units will implement the guidelines in animal feed production and aquaculture far.
    Specific regulations include:
     
    Antimicrobials of medical importance to human medicine should only be used in the treatment of animals under veterinary supervision;
     
    Eliminate the use of shared-grade antimicrobials ofmedical importance to human medicine;
     
    ·Require companies to collaborate with global experts and stakeholders to identify new and better animal care practices, improve animal welfare and reduce the need for antimicrobia.

    SeaBOS has as many as 600 member companies, accounting for 10% of global aquaculture producti.
    The group was established in 2016 and initially consisted of 10 of the world's largest seafood producers, including Cargill Aqua Nutrition, Cermaq, Charoen Pokphand Foods, Dongwon Industries, Kyokuyo, Maruha Nichiro, Mowi, Nippon Suisan Kaisha and Nutreco/Skrettinge.
