Thailand launches 'odorless' durian, 39 farms certified

From July 15th to 16th, Chokchai Farm, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand held a celebration to issue the Pak Chong-Khao Yai durian geographical indication certificate to the local fa.

According to the growers, the Pak Chong-Khao Yai durians belong to the Mon Thong variety, with sweet and soft flesh, dry texture and no strong sme.

The Deputy Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, Chusak Chunkoh, officiated at the opening ceremony of the celebration and issued GI certificates to 39 durian farms in the Pak Chong and Khao Yai distric.

Visitors to the event tasted the durian and fruit buffet on-site, as well as dragon fruit, longan, banana, avocado and chakros grown at Chokchai Fa.
The Miss Universe Thailand beauty queen also came to the scene to che.

In June 2021, Pak Chong-Khao Yai durian was registered as a geographical indication product with the Ministry of Intellectual Property of Thaila.
The 39 farms that have obtained the geographical indication certificate have a planting area of more than 20,000 rai, about 48,000 .
