Independent developer Aquind has announced that it will bid
for a 2 GW power interconnection project Aquind Interconnector between Portsmouth on the south coast of England and Normandy on the north coast of France by July 4.
According to a report by the official European Union's journal on Monday, the project, with a total value of 1.

"Aquind Interconnector has been granted EU Common Interest Project Reference Qualification and may be eligible for EU funds," the company said
.
The tender was held in three batches, one for converter stations, one for HVDC and fiber optic cables, and one for converters and other cables
.
"The Aquind Interconnector will be able to transmit up to 16 TWh of electricity or around 5% of total UK electricity consumption," the company said.
The line will run from the Lovedean substation near Portsmouth to the Barnabos interchange station in Normandy's Seine-Maritime department
.
The entire length of the trail is 238 km, including 20 km on the British mainland, 38 km on the French land, and 182 km
on the seabed.
The developer said the expected commissioning date is December 2023, but the contract period is April 2024
.
Two other connections in the UK and France are under construction
.
According to the cooperation between State Grid and France's RTE, the 1 GW IFA2 power interconnection project will be completed
this winter.
ElecLink, a similar-sized version through the Channel Tunnel, will be operational in Q4 and will be fully operational
in Q1 2020.
In addition, the Franco-UK FAB Link with a capacity of up to 4GW is expected to start construction
in 2020.
