Recently, the Argentine government outlined the tender terms
for the first high-voltage transmission line under the new public-private partnership program.
Tender documents published for Argentina's first public-private partnership high-voltage transmission line
The tender documents, prepared by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy, target a 490 km, 500 kV Rio Diamante-Charlone transmission line
in the central region.
The Department of Energy noted that the document is non-binding and subject to change
.
The current tender documents state that enterprises participating in the tender must have experience
in the construction of substations and transmission lines that exceed 300 kV in Argentina or abroad.
Transmission line projects must be up and running within 33 months of signing a public-private partnership contract, while operation and maintenance services can last up to 15 years
.
According to the Energy Vision 2030 published by the Department of Energy in December 2017, Argentina expects to increase unconventional renewable energy capacity by 14 GW to 18 GW by 2030, with a 25%
share of unconventional renewable energy.
To accommodate this growth and strengthen the transmission system in the short term, the government plans to tender seven 500 kV transmission line projects totaling 2,175 km with an investment of $2.
