Tata Power and Hemant Kanoria-controlled Power Corporation of India Ltd have reportedly acquired Odisha's Central Power Supply Company (CESU), announcing another privatization

Back in December, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission called for the sale of CESU.
The successful bidder will manage, invest in and operate the company for 25 years
.
The CESU distribution area accounts for 19 per cent of the state, with the major cities being Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradeep, Angul and Talcher with an income potential of around Rs 3,000 crore
.
It is understood that AT&C has about 2 million consumers, and the loss is as high as 35%.
The company's debt burden is around Rs 2,000 crore while its accounts receivable are around Rs 1,700 crore
