on phytosanitary requirements for the export of Tanzanian fresh avocados to China.
On November 15, the General Administration of Customs issued an announcement that Tanzanian fresh avocados that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to import
from now on.
According to the announcement, only the Hass variety of avocados
from Tanzania's avocado producing areas is currently allowed to be imported.
Quarantine pests of concern to China include 14 species
of spiral whitefly, Mediterranean fruit fly, African mango fruit fly, Natal fruit fly, African turtle wax bug, fig wax bug, mosquito blind bug, elm white shield bug, avocado thrips, spiny shield bug, sea grey winged night moth, apple heteromorphous curly moth, seven-pointed star wax bug and avocado sunspot virus.
