Recently, researchers from Hope School of nursing, Wuhan University published a paper to analyze the effect of green tea intake on blood glucose level of diabetic patients by meta analysis The study points out that the intake of green tea can increase the fasting insulin level of diabetic patients, but the current research evidence is limited This article was published in the 32nd issue of the Journal of modern integrated Chinese and Western medicine in 2014 The relevant literatures published in CNKI database and Wanfang database before December 2012 were searched with the keywords of green tea, blood glucose and diabetes The relevant literatures in PubMed and Elsevier were searched with the keywords of green tea, green tea extract, glucose and diabetes The literature quality was evaluated by using the literature quality evaluation method of Cochrane system evaluator's manual 4.2.6, and the comprehensive analysis was carried out with Revman 5.1 software This study included 5 randomized controlled trials with green tea or green tea extract as intervention, including 231 cases of diabetes The results of meta analysis showed that the intake of green tea or green tea extract for 8-12 months could increase the fasting insulin level of diabetic patients (P < 0.01), but the clinical significance of the effect on HbA1c and fasting blood glucose level (P = 0.37) needs further study.
