Recently, Australian steel company Bluescope signed a solar project PPA with ESCO Pacific with a capacity of 133 MW for a period of 7 years
    .

Located on 30 hectares in southern NSW, the 500,000-square-metre project will provide 20 per cent of the company's energy needs
    .
    The project will go live
    in mid-2019.

The solar power plant will provide 130 jobs during the construction phase and create 8 permanent jobs (2 full-time and 6 part-time)
    when fully operational.
Investment in the project is expected to exceed $250 million
    .

It is understood that Schneider Electric provides consulting services
    for PPA contracting.

The Chief Executive Officer of BlueScope Australia Steel Products said: "This PPA is one of Australia's largest corporate off-take agreements and the largest solar farm to date, complementing our solid power supply arrangements to provide a reliable power supply
    .
    We need manufacturing processes
that must operate around the clock.
PPA will help us reduce downward pressure on energy costs and will support a gradual transition to renewable energy
    .

"Due to its high solar resources and direct connection to the existing TransGrid-owned Finley substation, ESCO Pacific has strategically identified Finley's site as an ideal location
    for a solar farm.
    These factors are critical
to helping deliver cost-effective solar enterprise PPAs to BlueScope.
