Pakistan's Ministry of Power and the State Grid Corporation of China recently signed an agreement on the construction of 878 km 600 kV HVDC transmission line, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi attended the signing ceremony
.
According to reports, the high-voltage direct current transmission line connecting Matiari and Lahore is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, which will build two AC converter stations
in Matari and Lahore.
In addition, the project includes three relay stations
along the line.
According to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor plan, in 2015, the State Grid Corporation of China and Pakistan's transmission and distribution company NTDC signed a relevant agreement
on high-voltage direct current transmission line cooperation.
This flagship project is the first of its kind in Pakistan and the first to be implemented under the 2015 Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) policy issued by the Government of Pakistan over a period of 25 years
.
It is reported that the project has a working hour of 27 months, and the commercial operation date (COD) has been set for March 1
, 2021.
The Project Implementation Agreement (IA) was signed by PPIB, General Manager of Pakistan and Chairman of the State Grid Corporation of China, Shu Yinbiao, and specifically included a transmission service agreement, a land lease agreement and an operation agreement
.
