Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE) will invest 3.

6 billion) in the development of high-voltage transmission networks and power system operations to enable energy conversion
throughout Spain.
This amount represents 53%
of the total investment budget of €6 billion in the 2018-2022 strategic plan, REE said.
The €3.
2 billion investment will be divided as follows: €1,538 million for the integration of clean energy; €908 million to strengthen the reliability of the transmission system and the security of supply; €434 million to expand technology and digital tools; €215 million will be spent on storage projects; 54 million euros will be spent on energy control systems

REE said the development plan for 2019 and beyond includes a number of projects, some of which are already in the implementation stage, including the interconnection with France's grid through the Bay of Biscay, and the absorption of new renewable energy generation projects
in Spain.
