Singapore-based Campana Group is arranging equity and debt totaling more than US$80 million to deploy the Singapore-Myanmar (SIGMAR) submarine cable system
.
The funding includes a $40 million Series B round co-financed
by Tokyo-based Mitsui & Co.
and Myanmar businessman U Thein Htwe.
The 2,200-kilometre Singapore-Myanmar submarine cable system, comprising four fiber pairs, is designed to connect the Thanlyin International Gateway (IGW) facility 16 kilometres southeast of Yangon city to Tuas in Singapore
.
Campana will provide Yangon and Singapore with diverse fiber backhaul through open PoP, while will provide branch paths for future landings in Thailand and interconnection
with submarine cable systems from the West.
In addition to the SIGMAR submarine cable, the proceeds will be used to increase investment
in metro core and last-mile connectivity.
