TOKYO, Dec.
7 (Sputnik) -- Since the beginning of this year, more than 4 million chickens in Japan have been killed by bird flu, citing the Ministry of Agriculture
, Forestry and Fisheries.

Due to the critical situation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has set up an operational command to develop measures to reduce the spread of
diseases.

The first cases of avian influenza were identified in October, and since then 28 outbreaks
have occurred in 16 of Japan's 47 prefectures.
On the evening of the 7th, three more suspected
cases of avian influenza were reported.
More than 4 million chickens
were killed.
The disease spread faster than last season's record rate, with 9.
87 million chickens killed
from November 2020 to the end of March 2021.
There were 52 outbreaks
in 18 counties.
