Germany's Siemens AG recently won a $17.
5 million contract for a solar project to supply inverter systems and other equipment
for a 258MW solar farm at Trungnam Group, an investment and construction company in Ninh Tuan, southern Vietnam.
The farm is Siemens' first solar project
in Southeast Asia.
Siemens will supply inverters, power and distribution transformers, gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and monitoring systems
.
In a statement, Siemens noted that "the solar panels will generate a combined DC voltage
of 1,500V.
The inverter converts DC to 660V AC and the transformer will first raise it to 33kV and finally to 220kV
.
It is then fed into the high-voltage grid and the electricity is distributed throughout the country
.
”
The CEO of Siemens Medium Voltage and Systems said: "The customer received our support during the bidding phase and will receive a very competitive solution
.
We are proud to provide the best solutions to support Vietnam's important role in energy transition
.
”
Trungnam Group will also use a single-axis tracker in the project, which is expected to be completed by mid-2019 and will provide up to 425GWh of electricity
per year.
In addition, a joint venture between Thai energy company B.
Grimm Power and Vietnamese conglomerate Xuanke Group is also building a 420 MW solar facility
in Vietnam.
