, used mouse models to show that one or more months of multiple therapies could replace surgery and hormone therapy. At least one in five women will experience more than a month at some point in their lives, either through surgery or hormone therapy, which often leads to infertility, and the latter, which often has side effects. women who are not pregnant have endometrial shedding, causing bleeding and menstruation. After the endometrium is successfully repaired, the bleeding stops. Many women experience severe pain and excessive bleeding during menstruation and are at risk of severe anemia.
Maybin, Hilary Critchley and colleagues at the University of Edinburgh in the UK, suggest that the endometrium needs low oxygen to be successfully repaired. They used a drug called PHD inhibitors to treat models of menstrual mice, suggesting that PHD inhibitors can "trick" the uterus into considering low oxygen levels and promoting endometrial repair. Their experiments suggest that PHD inhibitors may be used to speed up endometrial repair in women, thereby reducing menstrual bleeding and other related symptoms, although further research is needed to verify the effectiveness of the method in the human body.
