On March 17, 2022, Saudi Arabia issued conditions and requirements for food importation , effective immediately

The main contents include: (1) General import requirements, including food exporting countries need to provide animal and plant-derived food residue monitoring plans, traceability systems, halal certification and product hygiene certificates; (2) Animal and plant-derived food import requirements, including export Countries and processing enterprises must be listed in Saudi Arabia’s list of permitted exports, and import licenses shall be issued by the Saudi food and drug supervision department; (3) The Saudi food and drug supervision department shall review the official competent department of the exporting country at a certain frequency
