The ecological risk assessment of halogenated pollutants is an important issue because many of these chemicals persist in the environment, bioaccumulate through the food web, and may cause lasting adverse effects
The research team at Ehime University used advanced analytical methods based on two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC), time-of-flight mass spectrometry (ToFMS), and software mass spectrometry filtering to determine the chlorinated content in the livers of terrestrial and saltwater birds from Osaka.
The research is part of the establishment of a supplementary digital archive of comprehensive chemical screening data for the chemical monitoring library of environmental and biological specimens (Ehime University ChemTHEATRE)
