Prysmian pushes the Flextube® cable with 2112 fibers
Prysmian Group, the world's largest manufacturer of energy and communications cables, last week showcased its latest fibre optic cable Flextube®, another world-first fibre optic cable technology in Australia, enabling a single fibre cable containing 2,112 fibres
.
Jack Clements, Prysmian Australia's Director of Technical Sales, said: "This is not only the cable with the highest number of fiber cores ever manufactured by Prysmian, but also the highest fibre density cable in the world
.
”
According to reports, this single optical cable containing 2112 optical fibers has a diameter of 24mm, which is equivalent to 4.
7 optical fibers per square millimeter, which is currently the world's largest optical cable density
.
Jack Clements said, "The 24mm diameter allows it to fit within a 32mm cable duct (the inner diameter is 28mm) and maximizes
the use of space.
This is a revolutionary cable product that is designed to be very compact, lightweight and flexible, making it easier to install
.
”
TPG Telecom, a major Australian telecommunications operator, was one of Prysmian's first users of
Flextube® cable technology.
Alice Codenotti, Prysmian Australia Key Account Director, said: "In 2015, Prysmian installed its first fibre optic cable with
1,728 fibres.
This year, we expanded it to 2,112, demonstrating Prysmian's commitment to continuously advancing telecom solutions and innovating to meet market needs
