According to Philippine media reports, on December 11, the Cebu Customs in the Philippines seized and detained 42 containers of mature coconuts , which were originally scheduled to be exported to China
    .

It is understood that these coconuts are worth 223 million Philippine pesos, which is about 30 million yuan
    .
As the Philippines banned "export of unprocessed coconuts", these coconuts were declared as containing waste paper in the customs declaration
    .

A law passed in the Philippines in 1985 prohibits the export of mature coconuts and coconut seedlings to protect the local coconut industry
    .
In December 2019, due to the sluggish domestic coconut industry in the Philippines, the price of copra was too low.
The Philippines once called for the lifting of the ban to increase the income of coconut farmers
    .
However, after the price of copra rebounded, the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) agreed to retain the export ban on mature coconuts
    .

The Philippine Customs stated that the seizure of illegal export products is aimed at protecting the Philippine coconut industry and farmers, and the coconuts will be handed over to the Philippine Coconut Authority for processing
    .

In 2019, Philippine green coconuts were approved for export to China, and a large number of fresh coconuts were able to enter the Chinese market
    .
According to the statistical report issued by the Philippine Embassy in China, the Philippines has become China's second largest supplier of coconuts in 2020
    .
The Philippines exported about 43,000 tons of coconut products to China throughout the year, including coconut water, coconut milk, coconut oil and coconut sugar, which accounted for 27% of the Chinese coconut market
