According to local media in Paraguay, Paraguay has completed the first phase of its 13,000-kilometer National Fiber Network (RNFO), which connects several large cities in the domestic Asunción-Ciudad delta-Encarnasción Delta with the installation and activation of 27 fiber nodes
.
In the second phase of the project, the RNFO National Fiber Network backbone will connect the cities and regions of Asunción, Alberti, Pilar, Laurel, Ayolas and Encanacion in the south of the country, while the third phase will cover the northern and south-central regions
of the country.
The project also includes the unification of four independently operated fibre networks owned and operated
by state-backed company Copaco, utility Administracion Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE), the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Finance.
A consortium led by Asunción-based company Celexx was awarded a $12 million contract at the end of 2018 to integrate the network
