Eastman and Procter & Gamble announced that they are working together to develop solutions aimed at promoting a circular economy
    .

According to a statement issued by Eastman, P&G will use Eastman’s Renew line of materials through molecular recycling in many of its products and packaging
    .
The companies will also collaborate on advocacy campaigns aimed at reducing reliance on virgin plastic and addressing the infrastructure needed to increase plastic recycling rates

    .

“Removing plastic waste from our environment is a complex global challenge that requires a comprehensive, collaborative approach across the plastic life cycle
    .
P&G is taking action to address the collection, processing, regeneration and reuse of materials

    .
This That's why we chose Eastman's molecular recycling technologies, which can convert previous waste into useful products

," explained Lee Ellen Drechsler, senior vice president of R&D at P&G
    .

Eastman recycled materials are sourced from discarded plastics that end up in landfills without the option of molecular recycling
    .
The technology developed by Eastman complements traditional mechanical recycling, expanding the types and quantities of plastics that can be recycled

    .

The two companies will work to expand the collection of hard-to-recycle plastics, further diverting waste away from landfills
    .
These expanded recycling streams will be used to create new materials through Eastman's molecular recycling technology

    .

Scott Ballard, president of Eastman Plastics, said: "By working together, we can create value from waste and show the world what's possible through innovation
    .
The value created will help drive significant changes in our recycling infrastructure, which is necessary to address the plastic waste crisis

    .
    "

Eastman's Renew material is now available worldwide on a large scale
    .
The company is building one of the world's largest plastic-to-plastic recycling facilities in Kingsport, Tennessee, with completion expected in 2022

    .
The molecular recycling facility will consume more than 200 million pounds of waste plastic that goes to landfill each year to make Eastman Renew materials
