The Norway-Russia Joint Fisheries Commission confirmed a 20% reduction in the 2023 pollock quota to 566,784 tonnes and a 5% cut in haddock quota to 170,067 tonnes, largely in line
with the Norwegian Marine Institute's September 6 recommendation.

"The Russian side announced that the 2023 fishing agreement between the two countries may be suspended
if Norway imposes further restrictions on the docking of Russian fishing vessels," the Norwegian fisheries ministry said.
Norway will maintain its support for Russia to ensure compliance with sanctions and we advocate for sustainable fisheries management
    .

In October, Russia announced restrictions on Russian vessels docking in Norwegian ports, leading to tensions
in fisheries talks between the two sides last week.

In 2022, the actual catch quota for Russian and Norwegian pollock increased, as about 110,000 tons of uncaught quotas in 2021 were diverted to this year
    .
The data shows that Norway's cod quota has been raised from 336,467 tonnes to 385,256 tonnes this year, compared with 48,789 tonnes last year; Russia's quota was raised to 369,146 tonnes from 309,605 tonnes, compared with 59,541 tonnes
    last year.
Norway, Russia and third countries have a total quota of about 830,000 tons
    .

If this year's quota of 830,000 tons is fully completed, next year's quota of 566,784 tons will be reduced by as much as
    32%.
