Recently, Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt announced that it has cooperated with Finnish pulp giant Stora Enso to develop wood-based sustainable battery technology, which is not only expected to reduce the carbon footprint of battery production, but also help Europe to establish the upstream and downstream industrial chain of the local battery industry.

Emma Nehrenheim, chief environmental officer of Northvolt, said: "Through this cooperation, we will not only explore new raw materials, will extend the European battery industry value chain, but also find a lower cost battery production process
