Recently, the "Coal-based Application Catalysis" team of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Ningxia University has made new progress in the research of carbon dioxide (CO₂) hydrogenation catalysts, and designed a new type of layered cobalt-aluminum-oxygen (Co- Al-O) catalyst to achieve low temperature and high activity methanation of carbon dioxide
Carbon dioxide methanation can transfer renewable energy to methane, an ideal energy carrier, and is an important part of clean coal utilization and "electricity-to-gas" technology
To this end, the team designed a highly efficient and stable layered Co-Al-O catalyst with a single-pass conversion of carbon dioxide of 74% and a selectivity of methane close to 100% at 250 °C
