India's national hydropower company, NHPC, said it was exploring various options for intra-state electricity trading, including gaining membership in the electricity exchange and registering with
the e-tender portal DEEP.

"NHPC is exploring the possibility of various trading options and is also gaining membership in the Electricity Exchange and registering
as a trader on the DEEP e-Tender portal.

in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Earlier this year, NHPC submitted an application to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission to obtain a Category 1 license
for intra-state electricity trading across India.
In its April 23 order, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission decided to issue NHPC a Category I license for intra-state electricity trading
.
NHPC said that in light of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission's order, the company will be able to conduct intra-state electricity trading
across the country.
NHPC's decision to enter the state's electricity trading space is in line with the Ministry of Power's plan to make the company an aggregator
for peak electricity demand.
Now, NHPC can do so because it already has a trading license
