Trelleborg's Applied Technologies division has launched an ultra-lightweight fire-resistant material for applications in electric vehicle battery protection and fire risk reduction

Soteria FRV is the second material in the company's Soteria line of protective materials

2 kg/m², the Soteria FRV is extremely flexible and can be shaped to any size area; it can also be draped or wrapped around irregular contours

When combined with the Soteria FR1500 panel, it provides lightweight protection for EV battery boxes and enclosures

It can also be used as a stand-alone option for fire risk reduction applications

Trelleborg says the Soteria FRV is flame-retardant up to 1100°C for up to 90 minutes without burning through or swelling in a fire

Once installed, it requires no ongoing maintenance and is easy to transport
