Ferrihydrite Nanozyme: Different from the previous multi-enzyme activity of iron oxide nanozyme, it has relatively specific catalase activity, which can catalyze the decomposition of H 2 O 2 to produce O 2 , and its active site is the combination of iron and iron.

Nanozymes are a class of nanomaterials with enzymatic properties, which have the characteristics of high catalytic activity, stability, low cost and easy mass production

Recently, the team of Academician Yan Xiyun, Gao Lizeng and Fan Kelong of the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences/Nanoenzyme Engineering Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered that ferrihydrite (Fe 5 HO 8 ·4H 2 O ) Is a relatively specific hydrogen peroxide-like nanoenzyme, which can be effectively catabolized by cells and has good biocompatibility

Studies have found that ferrihydrite has the highest catalase-like activity compared to other forms of iron oxide materials, and its catalytic efficiency remains constant in the range of pH 4.

In order to study the catalytic mechanism of highly active ferrihydrite nanoenzymes, the researchers compared and analyzed the correlation between various physical and chemical parameters and enzyme-like activities of various iron oxide materials

Tumor tissue hypoxia is one of the important reasons for current radiotherapy tolerance

This study reported for the first time a ferrihydrite-hydrogen peroxide nanozyme with relatively specific activity, elucidated its catalytic active sites and catalytic mechanism, and for the first time confirmed the effectiveness of ferrihydrite nanozyme for tumor radiosensitization Security and safety provide new model materials and methods for the study of the structure-activity relationship and in vivo application of nanozymes
