When you lose concentration, your performance gets worse

Recently, neuroscientists at University College London explored how two different cognitive and behavioral states — attention and running — affect individual neurons in mice
.
The article, titled "Independent response modulation of visual cortical neurons by attentional and behavioral states," was published in the journal Neuron on September 21
.
Takahiro Kanamori, a senior researcher at University College London, said: "Previous studies in mice and primates have shown that spatial attention and running have very similar
effects on sensory processing.
To solve this problem, Kanamori et al.
Senior author Tom Mrsic-Flogel said: "We found that attention and running are independently applied to
individual neurons.
The research team also tracked how individual neurons
are regulated by spatial attention or running.
