According to a report from Electric Power News in London on May 13, 2021, the British Neptune Energy Company stated in a performance statement on May 13 that the company is advancing the PosHYdon offshore green hydrogen pilot project in the North Sea of the Netherlands, and is advancing it in the United Kingdom.
The British independent oil and gas company is expected to finalize a joint venture agreement for the 1 MW PosHYdon Dutch offshore electrolyzer project in the second quarter and start a feasibility study.
Neptune Energy has recently applied to the United Kingdom Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) for a carbon dioxide assessment and storage license for the DelpHYnus blue hydrogen and carbon capture and storage project in the southern North Sea near the Swan Island natural gas production center.
Neptune Energy said: "The proposed DelpHYnus development will provide the South Humber industrial zone with carbon dioxide transportation and storage solutions, as well as production facilities that use natural gas from the natural gas grid to produce low-carbon hydrogen.
Neptune Energy said: "The company has proposed an ambitious work plan for the evaluation phase of this project and is discussing with potential partners in the hydrogen plant.
OGA is expected to make a decision to grant a storage license within 6 months.
The DelpHYnus project will provide carbon dioxide transportation and storage services for the South Humber Industrial Zone, as well as a low-carbon hydrogen production facility located at the former Theddlethorpe natural gas terminal, using natural gas from the natural gas grid as feedstock.
Neptune Energy stated that the company has been in contact with carbon dioxide emitters and hydrogen buyers in the South Humber Industrial Area, and is confident about the prospects for carbon dioxide storage and low-carbon hydrogen demand.
On May 12, the cost of hydrogen production through self-heating reforming in the United Kingdom was estimated at 1.

Neptune Energy progresses blue, green hydrogen projects in UK and Netherlands
Neptune Energy is progressing its PosHYdon offshore green hydrogen pilot project in the Dutch North Sea and its DelpHYnus blue hydrogen project in the UK, the company said May 13 in a results statement.
The independent oil and gas company expects to finalize the consortium agreement for the 1 MW PosHYdon Dutch offshore electrolyzer project in the second quarter and start a feasibility study.
In the UK, Neptune Energy has applied to the Oil and Gas Authority for a CO2 appraisal and storage license in the southern North Sea near its Cygnus gas production hub for its proposed DelpHYnus blue hydrogen and carbon capture and storage project.
"The proposed DelpHYnus development provides a CO2 transport and storage solution for the South Humber industrial area, together with production facilities for low carbon hydrogen using natural gas from the grid," Neptune Energy said.
"Neptune has proposed an ambitious work program for the appraisal phase of the project and is in discussions with potential partners for the hydrogen plant," it said.
The OGA is expected to make a decision on awarding the storage license within six months.
The DelpHYnus project will provide CO2 transportation and storage for the South Humber industrial area, along with low-carbon hydrogen production facilities at the former Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal, using natural gas from the grid as a feedstock.
Neptune said it has engaged with CO2 emitters and hydrogen buyers in the South Humber industrial area, and was confident in the demand landscape for CO2 storage and low-carbon hydrogen.
The company is also in discussions with industrial gas producers to partner on the proposed blue hydrogen plant.
The company next plans to develop an end-to-end value chain consortium.
It is assessed that the cost of producing hydrogen by autothermal reforming in the UK is GBP1.
