    On July 6, the Nepalese government has invited Bangladesh to discuss a memorandum of understanding
    on bilateral energy cooperation.

    Nepal's Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI) said that as approved by Nepal's cabinet, the memorandum of understanding consists of three components, namely power swaps, investment and the establishment of joint mechanisms to strengthen energy cooperation

    "We have sent a letter to our counterparts in Bangladesh three days ago inviting them to visit Nepal and finalize the memorandum of understanding
    .
    " Dinesh Ghimire, a spokesman for the Department of Energy
    , told Xinhua.

    According to reports, after the signing of the memorandum of understanding, the two countries will establish a joint mechanism
    to promote bilateral investment and power swap.

    Ghimire said the MOU is based on
    a framework agreement on regional cooperation for energy cooperation in South Asia.
