Recently, the journal Nature reported that researchers from the Austrian Academy of Sciences discovered a new function of protein Ki-67 .
The resulting chromosome cluster participates in the removal of cytoplasm during nuclear assembly
Ki-67 is a nuclear antigen gene that marks the cell cycle progression and proliferation phase.
In this study, the researchers found that the large cytoplasmic components in HeLa cells were replaced by the movement of chromosomes into dense clusters before the nuclear envelope was assembled
Ki-67 forms repulsive molecular brushes in the early stages of mitosis, but at the end of mitosis, these molecular brushes dissociate, and Ki-67 promotes chromosome aggregation
