Beijing, October 31 (Reporter Jiang Jianke) The Feed Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences announced on October 30 that China has realized the synthesis of carbon monoxide to protein for the first time in the world.
Researcher Dai Xiaofeng, director of the Feed Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that under artificial conditions, the use of naturally occurring carbon monoxide and nitrogen sources (ammonia) to biosynthesize protein on a large scale has long been considered by the international academic community to affect the development of human civilization and to life phenomena.
Experts said that China, as a major feed producer and consumer in the world, has developed a new type of non-grain protein with independent innovation to reduce and gradually replace its dependence on soybean protein, which is of great strategic significance
