The latest statistics from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) show that the demand for sustainable seafood in the global market is growing steadily, with MSC-certified fisheries, supply chain agencies, and most sustainability-certified products maintaining a growing trend
    .

According to the MSC annual report, between April 2021 and March 2022, the number of MSC-certified fisheries worldwide increased from 449 to 539, and 15% of the world's marine fishing industry passed MSC certification, an increase of 1%
    over last year.
The number of companies supplying and selling MSC-certified seafood increased by 5% to 5,985 and operated
in more than 46,000 locations worldwide.

The report also pointed out that the sectors hit by the global pandemic continued to show a strong recovery, with sales of MSC-certified label products increasing by 39%.

In addition, more and more retail F&B brands are fulfilling their commitment to sustainable seafood, with MSC-labeled tuna product sales up 24% year-on-year and certified pet food sales up nearly 50% to 95,000 tonnes
    .

Rupert Howes, CEO of MSC, said: "The last 25 years have been an incredible journey
    for MSC and our partners.
However, the next decade will be decisive for the enormous challenges facing our oceans
    .

"In the coming years, we hope to support more fisheries in the transition to MSC and continue to raise demand for sustainable options to incentivize and reward those who
    actively invest in sustainable fisheries.
    " He said
