The President of Mozambique Nyusi stated that the national aquaculture production will be 3,000 tons per year in 2020, and the government will work to increase the annual production to 24,000 tons in the next five years
    .

Nyusi announced that Mozambique will launch a small-scale aquaculture project (PRODAPE) with a project budget of 49 million US dollars, which will be implemented in 23 regions of seven provinces in Mozambique, namely Tete, Manica, Sofala, Zambia West Asia, Nampula, Niassa and Cabo Delgado provinces will create 17,000 jobs
    .

Nyusi said that Mozambique has great potential for aquaculture, but it is still concentrated in Gaza, Manica and Tete provinces, accounting for nearly 70% of the national output
    .
Due to the lack of infrastructure such as delivery centers and laboratory certification of the quality of aquaculture catches, production has been low
    .
PRODAPE is a structural and transformational project.
After the launch of the PRODAPE project, Mozambican aquaculture can maintain stable growth at the small-scale community level or in commercial-oriented aquaculture
    .
Small aquaculture farmers, rural businessmen, university graduates and technical experts will not only be beneficiaries, but also key participants in the success of the project
    .

Nyusi issued a strong appeal to every stakeholder in the project that PRODAPE will speed up production and change the status quo of the entire aquaculture value chain
