Researchers at Mount Sinai Hospital have developed a treatment for fatal childhood leukemia
This treatment, called MS67, leads to the degradation of WDR5 protein, which leads to the proliferation of acute myeloid leukemia, which has a special genetic structure called mixed lineage leukemia rearrangement
WDR5 also plays an important role in the proliferation of pancreatic cancer and other cancers.
"This study demonstrated for the first time that in the treatment of WDR5-dependent cancers (including acute myeloid leukemia with mixed-line leukemia rearrangement), the pharmacological degradation of WDR5 (selective elimination of protein) is better than the pharmacological inhibition (or blocking) of WDR5.
The research team led by Dr.
