January 12, Wuhan Botanical Garden Fruit Molecular Breeding Research Group at the famous botanical journal New Phytologist , published online entitled Two the R2R3-MYB Genes cooperatively Control Trichome Development and Cuticular Wax Biosynthesis in Prunus persicaresearch papers
Nectarine is a variant of the common peach, which originated in China
Interestingly, the characteristics of the epidermis of nectarine and common peach fruit were observed by scanning electron microscopy, and it was found that in addition to the difference in epidermal hairs, the structure of the epidermal wax was also very different.
This study revealed that peach Pp MYB25 and Pp MYB26 synergistically regulate fruit epidermal hair development and epidermal wax accumulation, and when their expressions were simultaneously disturbed, a peach variant , nectarine, was produced (Fig.
