On April 1, 2022, Huaqing Cai's group from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences published a research paper titled "Oligopeptide transporter Slc15A modulates macropinocytosis in Dictyostelium by maintaining intracellular nutrient status" in the Journal of Cell Science .
Macropinocytosis is the process by which cells non-selectively endocytose extracellular nutrients and liquid-phase macromolecules, and is known to play important functions in physiological activities such as cellular nutrient uptake, antigen presentation, and synaptic regulation
Cai Huaqing's research group took Dictyostelium discoideum as a model, and used its characteristics of high macropinocytosis efficiency, conserved signaling pathways, easy gene editing and microscopic observation, combined with forward genetic screening and high-content imaging technology, identified and obtained Novel macropinocytosis regulator-proton-coupled oligopeptide transporter Slc15A

Zhang Yiwei and Tu Hui, PhD students of the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, are the co-first authors, and researcher Cai Huaqing and associate researcher Wang Haibin are the co-corresponding authors of this article
