Mitsui Chemicals announced that it will establish a production system in Singapore to produce plastic materials used in food packaging materials and other materials
from waste plastics.
Accordingly, Mitsui Chemicals will cooperate with
the Singapore subsidiary of Shell of the United Kingdom.
They reduce CO2 emissions and plastic waste in the supply chain through the efficient use of plastic waste
.
It is reported that Mitsui Chemicals will purchase ethylene extracted from waste plastic from Shell's Singapore subsidiary and produce polyethylene
for packaging materials such as food and daily necessities at its local production base.
A cooperation agreement has been signed, but the timing and quantity of the start of production have not yet been announced
.
Shell's waste plastic-derived ethylene is said to have been put into practical use
.
Shell uses chemical recycling methods to break down raw materials to the molecular level to recover chemical raw materials and resynthesize them into chemicals
