LyondellBasell licenses its process for this new HDPE installation

LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest polyolefin technology licensors, has announced that it has licensed Shandong Jinhai Chemical (a subsidiary of Shandong Dongming Petrochemical) to use its Hostalen ACP process technology in the new plant

The new plant is equipped with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) unit with a capacity of 400,000 tons/year and is located in Heze City, Shandong Province

Neil Nadalin, Licensing Director at LyondellBasell, said: "Hostalen's Advanced Tandem Process (ACP) products best meet market needs for applications requiring multimodal high-density polyethylene (HDPE)

It is reported that this is the second license between LyondellBasell and Shandong Dongming Petrochemical Group.

"Choosing LyondellBasell's Hostalen ACP technology enables us to cost-effectively and efficiently produce high-quality, durable products such as PE pipes, films and many other applications," said Ding Shubing, Vice President and General Manager of the Beijing Division of Shandong Dongming Petrochemical Group.

With these additions, LyondellBasell has achieved a licensed capacity of over 8,000 kt/y for multimodal HDPE resins

Hostalen ACP low pressure slurry process technology produces high performance, multimodal HDPE resins with improved stiffness/toughness balance, impact resistance and high stress cracking properties in pressure pipe, film and blow molding applications

The Shandong Jinhai HDPE plant will use Avant Z501 and Avant Z509 catalysts to produce a full range of multimodal HDPE products

Newly licensed factories have the option to join LyondellBasell's Technical Services Program, continuing to leverage LyondellBasell's in-house process, operational and product improvement expertise and experience
