Lycium barbarum is a traditional precious traditional Chinese medicine in China, known as "longevity fruit"
Using the Aβ transgenic nematode strain CL2006 as a model, researchers from Chen Chang's group added LBE to the nematode food Escherichia coli OP50 at a certain concentration ratio at the L4 stage of nematode larvae to study the function and molecular mechanism of LBE in the production and elimination of toxic Aβ.
This study is the first to discover that LBE exerts a protective effect on AD model nematodes by activating mitochondrial UPR, providing a new mechanism for revealing the important efficacy of Lycium barbarum in the prevention and treatment of AD
Researcher Chen Chang from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences is the corresponding author of this paper
