February 5, 2019-The Lubrizol Corporation announced the commercial supply of a new flame-retardant product Hycar® NH3069, which is designed to provide excellent flame-retardant properties without the use of additives or halogenated materials
.
Based on the new self-crosslinking halogen-free polymer technology, Hycar® NH3069 imparts flame retardancy to cellulose, making it a powerful protection technology for paper, cotton, rayon, glass and mixed fiber media applications
.
In addition to the advantages of flame retardancy, the mechanical properties and transparency of Hycar® NH3069 are also better than particle-filled coatings .
Its inherent thermal stability during processing provides better colors than halogenated polymers .
As fewer additives are required, mixing can be reduced, chemical inventory is reduced, and cleaning speed is accelerated, thereby improving production efficiency .
For filtration applications, Hycar® NH3069 provides a lower pressure drop compared to particulate additives .
Marketing Manager Gary Anderle pointed out: "Lubrizol’s new, unique, halogen-free polymer technology avoids the need for heavy metals (such as antimony trioxide) .
It is a game changer for many applications, and we look forward to it.
Discover its full potential by collaborating with formulators to meet specific flame retardant needs .
" Hycar® NH3069 is part of an exciting new platform that will develop into future flame retardant products .
It can apply a wide range of technologies, including knife coating (J-box), dipping and extrusion (filling), foam, gravure printing, screen printing and rod coating .
